Installation of frescoes and photo wallpaper

Preparing the space

  • Requirement for a perfect end result is a smooth, dry, primed and white painted wall. Preferably to use an acryl prime coating or paint of light shades (better white paint), in order to avoid a color visibility through the wall.

  • To start the work you should determine a vertical line with a plummet on the wall that will serve you like an applying reference.

  • If your fresco/wallpaper of a big size, make sure that you have enough space to place it on the floor.

  • We recommend doing installation using the same lighting as will be used further. Use an additional lighting to check places of possible wrinkles.

  • Prepare the wallpaper glue in accordance with the instructions.

Frescoes and photo wallpaper installation (single canvas)

1. Apply the wallpaper glue to the back of the canvas with a paint-roller and wait 3 min. 2. Apply the wallpaper glue to the wall and hang the canvas to the wall.3. Carefully push any bubbles and wrinkles out toward the borders with a paint-roller.
4. Trim away excess using a sharp knife and a liner as a guide. Change the blade on your knife every panel for better results.

Installation of frescoes and photo wallpaper produced by one canvas and cut into rolls.

Applying technic of frescoes and photo wallpaper in rolls is the same as for the single canvas but previously you should to place all panels on the floor one after another in accordance with the image.

1. Start work with the first panel of the composition.2. Next panels you should apply edge-to-edge to the previous. The pattern and texture have to be matched with the one in the previous panel. 3. Carefully smooth the joint with a thin roller.

4. The joint will be invisible if the installation is made correctly.


Installation of a big format fresco produced with joints.

1. Place panels on the floor in accordance with the pattern. Combine the patterns making marks with a pencil to make easier the applying.2. Apply the wallpaper glue to the back of the fresco with a paint-roller and wait 3-7 min. 3. Apply the wallpaper glue to the wall and hang the canvas to the wall.
4. Carefully push any bubbles and wrinkles out toward the borders with a paint-roller.5. Next panel apply overlapped to the previous combining the pattern in accordance with the marks.6. In the center of joints make a curvy line with a metal paint edger or broad knife cutting 2 panels at the same time . Change the blade on your knife very often for better results.
7. Take off cutted elements. 8. Carefully smooth joints with a thin roller. 9. Trim away excess using a sharp knife and a liner as a guide. Change the blade on your knife every panel for better results.

Attention

  • It’s not possible to apply our products over existing wallpaper

  • Frescoes and photo wallpaper in rolls can be stored for 6 months saving all its characteristics

  • After transportation under the low temperatures, products must be stored packed in a room for 24 h. 

  • If you are going to install products in high moisture locations (bathroom, swimming pool) you should previously apply an antifungal mixture to the wall to avoid a mold. 

  • It’s necessary to apply a wallpaper glue to the wall as well as to the back of wallpaper/fresco

  • After applying the glue to the back of wallpaper you should hang it within 5-7 min.

  • During product installation and its drying all windows and doors have to be closed.

    

Frescoes installation on the ceiling

To make installation easier and tidier we recommend you to use a polyethylene film of the same size as your fresco.

1. Place your fresco on the floor. Determine the start edge and mark it with a pencil. 2. Apply the wallpaper glue to the back of the fresco with a paint-roller and cover the entire surface with a polyethylene film. 3. Roll your fresco on a tube in such a way that a fresco face would be inside. This roll must unroll from the marked edge.
4. Apply the wallpaper glue to the ceiling.5. Unroll around 50 cm of fresco’s canvas taking off a polyethylene film and hang it to the ceiling. Hold a tube with a fresco as close as possible to the ceiling. 6. Glue the fresco unrolling the roll little by little and pressing out the excess of the glue and air.
7. Trim away excess using a sharp knife and a liner as a guide. Change the blade on your knife every panel for better results. 8. The result will be perfect if the installation is made carefully and correctly.

Installation of outdoor frescoes (Sabbia)

Affresco factory has developed a special material for outdoor frescoes – Sabbia.

Outdoor frescoes fixed with a special supporting net, preventing cracks appearance and ensuring longevity. Outdoor frescoes are resistant to the wind, frost, ultraviolet ray and humidity thanks to using a special varnish.

Attention

  • Outdoor frescoes can be used exceptionally for the exteriors!

  • White tile glue must be used for the installation of outdoor frescoes!

  • The installation has to be made under the temperatures not lower than 15 °C and not under sunrays and rain.
